Building A Strong Company Based on Strong Pillars of Belief

As a VP of Operations at Revity Marketing Agency, I’ve learned that a lot of a company’s success is not just determined by the products and services it offers, but also by its culture and values. At Revity, we believe in setting our team up for success by promoting a set of pillars of belief that guide us in everything we do.

Quality Always – is always at the forefront of our minds. We strive for excellence in everything we do and believe that quality should never be compromised. Our clients deserve the best and we aim to deliver it every time.  It doesn’t matter if you provide marketing services or manufacture road cones for construction sites, always provide quality to your customers.

Honesty & Candor – are key to building strong relationships, both internally and with our clients.  Believing in being transparent and open about your work and your decisions leads to better understanding and collaboration but also provides your team with the tools to be more efficient in their work.  Dodging honest feedback because its uncomfortable doesn’t allow for honest guidance and will delay work productivity

Integrity – is a non-negotiable aspect of culture. We do what is right, even when no one is watching. We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards and always strive to do the right thing.  If a manager in your company follows your pillars of belief, you can trust them to manage effectively and make decisions based on your company’s foundation without needing your input all the time.

Hard Work – is a given, but it’s also important to encourage your team to take the time they need to recharge and spend time with their loved ones.  Believing in finding a healthy balance between work and life, and promoting a work hard, then “go home” mentality.

Lean, Always Improve – Creating an environment we believe in constantly improving and striving for efficiency. This is where our Lean philosophy comes into play. We are always looking for ways to streamline our processes and find better, faster solutions.

Assume Positive Intent is a key aspect of our Getting out of the Box mentality. We believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and assuming that their actions are motivated by good intentions. This leads to a more positive and productive work environment. The unwritten rule here is Trust, but verify,  This allows us to create a more intentionally honest work environment but also hold people accountable for their work.

Progress Over Perfection – is our mantra. We believe in moving forward, making progress, and learning from our experiences, rather than striving for perfection and getting bogged down in the details.  This also is conducive to allowing people to be innovative.  You are given leeway to try a new innovation and it not have to win every time.  without this safety net, you remove the confidence of innovation and may get stagnant.

Where is the Story? – We believe that every marketing effort has a story, and more importantly a hero, villain, and mentor. With the product being the hero to our customer’s villain, we position our clients as mentors.  So if a client’s villain is snowy, dirty, uninteresting window wells, our hero is a window well cover and position the company to guide the client to the right hero.

Fail Fast and Fail Forward – is a key aspect of our culture. We believe in taking risks, trying new things and learning from our experiences. We understand that failure is a natural part of the growth process and that it’s how we learn and grow.

If It Bugs You, Fix It – we believe if something is hindering your progress in a process or a task you don’t have to wait for someone else to fix it. We’re proactive problem-solvers and believe in taking action to improve our processes and systems or even physical impedance.  No furniture placement is safe either.  If it requires money to be spent, it is equally considered but may need approval.

Quality is Always Over Efficiency – but we also believe in doing it efficiently. We strive for excellence in everything we do, but we also understand the importance of being efficient and maximizing our resources.  We push efficiency to the max until it starts diminishing quality, then we know we’ve gone too far.  Quality is the destination, efficiency is the vehicle to get there.

Stop the line – refers to the concept of a production line and is a key aspect of our culture. It means that if someone on our team sees a problem, they have the power to stop the line and address it. This allows us to nip potential problems in the bud and maintain the high-quality standards we require.

Money Kills Innovation – When faced with a problem, companies have a tendency to throw money at it as a resolution. Hire another employee, buy training, or even bring in a consultant.  Aside from possibly not being the leanest, these solutions don’t always support creativity.

Finally, Execution & Accountability is key to our success. We believe in taking ownership of our actions and decisions and holding ourselves, our vendors, and even clients accountable to the tasks required to make someone’s marketing a success.

When employees share the same pillars of belief as management, and management structures their organization based on the inverted triangle, you set the stage for your company to thrive. Culture is what sets us apart and drives our success as an internal team and how we work with our customers. By promoting these pillars of belief, we believe that we are positioning ourselves for long-term success and growth.
